Cutting fabric on lasers

Is anyone cutting fabric for sewing face masks? I was asked by a local seamstress to see if we can speed up the process of cutting the fabric for all the local seamstresses so they can sew them into masks… any advice? (I am using a 80W red and black)

Natural fibers are OK. Plant-based fibers are great; animal-based fibers may stink but not be dangerous.

If the fabric really is or contains plastic, you may be able to find a technical datasheet and see whether it contains Chlorine or Florine which are a bad idea to laser-cut.

If the fabric has been treated with flame retardant, it might be a bad idea due to chemicals used for flame suppression. This is not universally true.
