Custom Pet Picture Frame

Where my wife works they had a bulletin board up with everyone’s pet pics and this was the pic we sent in for our dog Ellie. (They added the gold glitter mat)

They recently took down the board and my wife got the picture and put it on the fridge with a magnetic clip. Couldn’t let it stay without a frame.

Found a clipart frame I liked and vectorized the image. The frame is made from 2 layers of 1/8” birch ply. The wood for the front layer was painted green and then masked. Laser etched and cut out the frame. Removed the masking for the center elements on each side and painted them pink. Infilled the etchings with gold paint and then removed the rest of the masking.

The picture opening for the back layer is a little larger then the front layer. That way when they were glued together I had a little recess for the picture to sit into.

Cut a backer from some thin chipboard, like from the back layer of a legal pad. secured the picture and backer in place with some packing tape at the corners. Also glued some thin magnets to the corners.

Loved how it turned out.
