Custom Beaglebone Black capes are fun.

Custom Beaglebone Black capes are fun. And does anyone really need ALL of P8?

Also the Dremel tool is great for custom fits. Just don’t route any traces near the edges!

I wonder about heat.

That’s a lot of electrolytic! What does it do? I see the MCP23008; I’ve just been playing with his big brother, the 0017…

LOL, yes that capacitor scares me too. But that’s what it calculated out to be–at the BBB current requirement.
I’m questioning this whole design. I needed ac to run a small pump (auto plant watering system) so I though I’d use that ac for a power supply for the BBB too–to eliminate a wall wart xfmr. Linear power supplies are making everything very warm. So I make 5vdc for BBB and get 3.3 Vdc back on p9 to run the i2c that drives a solid state relay.
I may give up and just get a wall wart for the BBB.

This is really just about designing pcb’s with my CAD tool. It’s fun. These days I do that instead of sleeping.

…or use a more efficient switching regulator.

Last phase of a failed project: strip off the valuable parts.
