Can’t make this stuff up.
“Brain.”
(Have to see the video to get the reference.)

LOOOOL, gotta get that SEO!

Sometimes I hate SEO

Another KS. Looks like the next Peachy/Pirate/ibox/makibox.

“It features one simple button to avoid confusion.”

If multiple buttons confuse you, 3D printing is probably a little out of your grasp.

“terminator”“culture”? That’s a little disappointing: I mean, SEO is great, but what’s the point. If I search for a video on German culture, or a review of the Terminator movie, I won’t click this. Not that it ever will show up.

Best printer in USA if USA is the name of a Podunk town. Extremely distasteful keyword spamming.

Their marketing example is a food measuring spoon? And they sit around waiting for the spoon to print? Oh dear.

“Another positive aspect of the Anvil is its eco-friendliness, with an energy output of only 0.2kW/h” 200W is a poor figure. I think the Replicator 2 did half that four years ago.

A bold claim. Shoving figures out there that seem like favorable numbers is only good if people don’t know what they mean. @Jeff_DeMaagd mentioned the 200w consumption, I run both my printers at max 60w off 12v 5a psu blocks now (from Printrbot as well). 200w would melt my printer.

@Brook_Drumm when it comes to a proven name and design, I can’t see people going to elsewhere in the US than you guys for sure.

Why do ‘they’ always go for ‘EVERYONE’ what’s wrong with doing a product - especially a 3D printer for a niche sector. Start off small and focused, then shoot for the world when you are actually established.

Ignore anyone that goes for the masses without any previous track record, that should be obvious to ‘EVERYONE’

Totally agree on the power usage, I run a 3DR at 25w and that’s including the 8W hot-end. It runs just fine off a 40w solar panel

I would expect their 0.2kWhr figure is probably mostly the steady-state temperature, and while while in operation, which makes it worse for claiming it’s eco-friendly power efficient. I think a machine for ABS could fit well under that.

200W with no heated bed is insane… A 60W desktopcharger will do fine. And I highly doubt, that a printer looking like this is possible at 300$. And: proprietary filament. Again. Why do they even try this?

Because there’s still plenty of suckers.

I’m wondering if their shell is repurposed from the extras of someone else’s injection molding run or something, because when they open the filament door in the video you can see the stiffening ribs on the interior surface.

That COULD be a printed prototype of a part being designed for injection molding, but the surface finish doesn’t look like a printed part, even a well finished one.

I definitely agree that the whole thing is far beyond questionable, but I’d really like to know where they got those shells from. I suppose you could get a similar effect with laser cut ABS sheets and some finishing work, but that’s a lot of work to go to for what would amount to a mock up.

…unless it’s a scam from day one, I guess.

This is the second go around for this bunch. The video in the post is about a year old. They launched under someone’s name then for whatever reason they are now a company. The shell has been around for at least a year.

In terms of pricing they could hit the $300 street price in the 100k plus run size pretty easily. There is no heated bed, the PSU is a remote brick style. The electronics could be dirt cheap, 8 bit, single board. The brains are in the cloud and the only access right now is via an app with a tablet. Where they see themselves adding value is the drawing app. We’ll see, I haven’t seen more than the few shots of it working to know if it’s any better or easier than Fusion 360 or Sketchup. Like with most of these other startups the issue will be getting it finished and out the door.

Your brain “doesn’t deserve to be chained inside your brain”? Wait. Do I have two brains? Did I hear him correctly? Is that where the revolution he mentions is happening? He wants a war inside my head?!
