I’ve read that HBot required a very rigid frame, but all the designs I’ve seen were strictly right angles, this is the first I heard of 45 degree angles. I do note that the individual belts are shorter so that stretching is probably half as bad.

so when you are moving in a straight direction, all the force is being applied to basically one bearing on the XY carriage. This generates force at a 45 deg angle and will pull a weak gantry out of square and cause racking and all kinds of other issues. The idea behind corexy is the forces are always applied along the bearing rails allowing for much weaker frames to be used.
