Cool open-source tools: KDE Connect - Remote control for your Linux computer

I found a Cool Tool a few nights ago: KDE Connect

Project page

App download for iPhone

Allows you to wirelessly connect your Linux computer & iOS/Android.

You can transfer files (similar to Apple’s AirDrop), run commands remotely, and even use your phone’s touch screen as your computer’s mouse - sooo cool!

The app feels high quality, which I appreciate!

I have found it useful for vectorizing photos. I can take a photo using my iPhone’s camera, use KDE Connect to send it to my Debian Linux machine connected to the CNC router, vectorize the image using InkScape “Bitmap tracer”, and then get that into Kiri:Moro / FreeCAD to convert the 2D shape to 3D design & job, and then pop it into Universal G-Code Sender, to etch it into wood using the CNC router.

Nice find. Thanks for sharing.

Cool app indeed but, …

The linux laptop was rebooted and in the app I added the ip-number of the laptop. What else do we need?

Tried this on the command line: sudo apt install kdeconnect and that installed some more files, rebooted again and still nothing…

Been using it for many years, use it to transfer files mainly, but also useful to monitor battery levels etc.
