Hello!

I am in need of a special computer mouse design. I have a friend with a printer but I am hopeless when it comes to designing anything and was thinking maybe some of you have some ready made models that could be edited to sit my needs.

I have a wrist issue, which would be greatly helped or even alleviated by a mouse that would allow me to hold my mouse in a way where my wrist can be completely limp down.

After looking around I did not find a thing that would fit.

To better explain this, if it was a regular old mouse, but the IR reader was where the mouse cable normally comes out, that seems to be the best option for my wrist. So hand pointing downwards, mouse pointing downwards, everything as is, but with the IR in the front, and cable could be wherever.

A tall mouse mouse might do this, but it would have to be super tall, like 10cm tall, which I don’t think I have ever seen.

I have tried a pen mouse which does not work for long I have tried one of those sideways mice, but that also does not give the relief I require. My wrist feels the bests if it is at a 90 degree angle or even more, drooping down.

If you need an image, I can try and draw it. If someone could design something like this, it would be of great help.

Have you considered prototyping something in clay first and mold it over an existing mouse?
This way you could get the hand positioning correct and then things could be worked out on how to make that into something which would have buttons or could activate the mouse buttons.
Or maybe even get some of that epoxy putty, put plastic food wrap over the mouse, make a cover with the epoxy putty which includes a round socket so you can later attach something to the top. This way you can try many top options using the same epoxy molded mouse cover.
