Completed a first stab at designing the wing spar (shown solid in the attached screenshot). The main spar will be made of three layers of 1/4" laser cut plywood laminated together. The trailing edge spar will be less hefty. Wing is designed to be removeable by sliding the spars into slots in the fuselage frame.

This first engineering challenge (spec’ing the spars) is complete. These spars are designed to handle 6Gs (10kg plane) with a safety factor of 1.4.

Some upcoming engineering challenges, if anyone wants to join in on the fun are:
-Spec and source a motor
-Spec and source landing gear

This project, due to the low number of man-hours available, is an exercise in conservative design to reduce the required level of engineering effort. This plane, when we complete it, is going to be a mean beast.
