Chilipeppr not communicating with GRBL/X-Carve @John Lauer Here are the 3 screen shots. Unfortunately Google+ is new to me as well.
I’m not too familiar with how x carve handles things… But I don’t know what that Communications Port 1 is. Check only the Arduino, and make sure the green highlighting is over the Arduino.
I second that.
Surely you are not connecting using COM1, so uncheck it and use only one port, which is related to Arduino Uno board. SJPS command prompt will show you the number, as well as SJPS Chilipeppr widget.
OK, that double-checked port setting was my error (I sent my machinist out to hit some golf balls). We did, and do have Arduino Uno COM4 grbl 11520. The GRBL state is still “offline.” So we are back to square 1 and I don’t know what other info that I can provide.
I did find a button to “disconnect from serial port JSON server.” We tried that and still can’t can’t connect to Easel. Again if that is not the correct process to switch from Chilipeppr to Easel please advise. We’d like to get one or the other working.
Are you sure that the Arduino is flashed with grbl? Can you try to connect to Arduino with a terminal program e.g. Putty and see if you can get any output?
Optionally if you allow remote access via Teamviewer I may have a quick look at your setup. Just I’m located in Europe and free to help within next 2-3 hours.
I am not sure of anything I have nothing to loose. When is convenient?
I’m downloaded Teamviewer and have a user ID. Perhaps it is better to send via email: I’m at michael.milauskas@gmail.com
I had a similar problem. No matter what i did i couldn’t connect with chilipeppr, but i could with grbl controller.
It turns out that the cheap £2 arduino boards from china that use the ch340 serial chips in just dont get on with JSON. Replace the arduino with a genuine one and it connects perfectly.
