Cheap 32 bit options?

Cheap 32 bit options? Arduino due is really cheap but is it a good option?

I would like to replace my ramps 1.4/8825 12v with something better…

@Rene_Jurack uses the AZSMZ mini on his DICE. It is cheap, runs on Smoothieware and still uses the Pololu/StepStick stepper driver format. Maybe he can comment on how he likes it?

There is Smoothramps. It is Smoothieware board meant for the RAMPS.

Have a look at re-arm as well.

Like others have said the new 32bit smoothieware compatible board for ramps from panucatt is one option. I currently use an Arduino Due + RADDS board on one of my printers which serves me quite well. I like the RADDS since it is capable of 6 drivers out of the box. Only downside to the RADDS is that it does not automatically support 24 volt but can if you solder a few diodes in the correct places.

I definitely recommend Smoothie - the motion, ease of configurability, and expansion options are great. The boards I make are called Cohesion3D, our ReMix is a 6 driver board so that you can do 3 extruders, large heatbed, direct Graphic LCD Connectors, and all the good stuff. We also make a Mini that is on part with the price of Chinese smoothies such as AZSMZ and MKS boards. (Mini is about to be in stock within the week).
The concern with Re-Arm is that the Arduino it replaces wasn’t the problem, I have issues with the thermals, component choices, and overall design of RAMPS, especially if you buy a cheap one. And if you buy the genuine Ultimachine RAMPS, then, well, any other board is cheap by comparison.
Let me know if you have any other questions I can answer.

I prefer DUET boards. Having better web interface (can be accessed through any PC, Smartphone, lap etc) for controlling the printer, it eliminates the need of an additional LCD controller.
And the firmware is continuously evolving by the great DC42.
Also, the new DUETWIFI works like a charm. You will not feel that the printer is running. It is so smooth like a butter. Bit pricey, but worth a try.

Looks like your not getting under the 100$ mark yet. The Duetwifi looks really nice though with that powerful quiet drivers.

Thanks for all the input!

The C3D Mini is $89

The Duet Wifi with RepRapFirmware is awesome if it’s in your price range. Due+RADDS is ok, you can run Repetier or RepRapFirmware. But by the time you add up the cost of the Due, RADDS, drivers, and an OctoPi, you’re better off just getting the Duet Wifi.

@Pieter_Koorts Any recent RADDS board can handle 24v… mine did without any modification. I think that was an early design change.

I use the Due/RADDS : Has been a great combo with RepRap firmware, but if I was to do it again I’d spend the cash to go DuetWifi, or Smoothie, since they’re better supported standards.
