About 6 years ago now I made some laser cut cats for a friend as a crazy cat lady joke.
I had also made my daughter a cat that she now keeps on her desk at work. The other day she asked me to make a black cat with yellow eyes for a coworker that had lost her cat Jack. She also asked for a base with the cats name
I spray painted a piece of 1/8" plywood black and then masked the wood after the paint dried.
Had to figure out how to draw a side view of a cat eye which was added as a vector engrave. 
Added some 2.5mm wide tabs to the bottom of the feet with corresponding 2.5x3mm slots in an oval base.
Engraved and cut the cat out. Removed the masking on the eyes and carefully painted the eyes a canary yellow. Painted the engravings on the base with some gold paint.
Also laser cut out a piece of self-adhesive flocked paper to add to the bottom of the base.
Turned out pretty nice.
