Can the HDMI port on the BBB be used as input? I would like to know if it is possible to create a device that will allow me to stream from my Sony Camera to my PC to YouTube. The camera doesn’t stream through the USB ports. Is something like this worth a project?

an HDMI output cannot be used as an input. there are HDMI “receiver” chips, but fitting one to a BBB is a daring task. even if you could, what would you do with uncompressed HD video on the BBB?

you cannot send uncompressed HD video over USB2.0. and the BBB does not have the CPU power to compress it. the box you linked is a professional grade, expensive thing
