BeagleBone #CapeContest entry “Replicape” performing first print. It needs a lot of work still, but the design is such that the 32-bit “PRU” controllers within the AM335x are performing the motor drive and the ARM Cortex-A CPU is running Linux. There are free pins for display for preview using the 3D graphics accelerator. Nice progress towards a standalone printer with no computer required and ability to print from SD cards, USB sticks and over the web.
I’d love to know more about this, I have a beaglebone that’s looking for an application and a second printer in the works that needs electronics…
