In the context of a demonstration of the capabilities of a 3D printer, I understand these, I guess.
On the other hand, the 3D printing of items that can be cast, or otherwise produced in another process, is something that I do not understand and seems contrary to the concept of 3D printing.
Why not develop and print items, mechanisms, devices, that cannot readily be manufactured by other means?
From that perspective, this seems like a big waste of 3D printing.
One might just as well 3D print a popsicle stick, or a coffee cup, or some other mundane commodity object.

@Kent_Morrison Of the 3 vases shown, only the one on the left could be cast easily, but mainly the 3d printer allows you to make a complex object easily and very cheaply. Once the printer itself is there, the materials costs are negligible. However the ability to create a work of art, or a manufacturing prototype, or the master to make a mold so you can produce thousands of copies is priceless.
