As with many things my printing problem had two parts, the set screw on the filament pulley thing was loose AND the filament was binding between the spool and the back of the case. As a result when the filament got taut, it stopped feeding. Having disassembled and rebuilt the extruder (still the same delrin plunger, will add the upgrade here in a bit) it is once again printing. Now to get both sides working.
i just started using a seemecnc eztruder and lost my set screw and noticed issues right away!. FYI i bought my replacement set screw and many other backups from http://trimcraftaviationrc.com
