Arduino CNC shield v3 + K40 PSU

Hi guys. I’m building a DIY laser with an Arduino CNC shield (which I intend to upgrade to an MKS board soon), and I have a few questions and assumptions I would like to understand properly:

  • This board requires a computer to be plugged in to work, right? If I use the PWM pin for the IN pin of the PSU I can’t fire the test button to align the mirrors, unless I send the pwm value from the laptop with a gcode command, right?
  • As a workaround to this, I’ve temporarily mounted a potentiometer with a voltimeter to align the mirrors for the first time. I plan on remon

I think I clicked on Post by accident (I’m writing this on the phone) and I don’t know how to edit it. I’ll continue here:

  • I plan on removing the pot and connect the pwm pin afterwards. That should work for aligning the mirrors, right? The L pin on the PSU doesn’t need to be plugged to anything at this point as it is internally connected to the test button.
  • Where do I need to plug the L pin once I replace the pwm input? Where does it connect to in the CNC shield?
