Anyone used metal PEM that they insert in their printed design to secure screws ?

Any recommendations ? Would be looking for PEM for a 3mm screw that would fit (and hold) well on a part printed with PLA.

I’ve used these http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/122/3321/=1193110 (the product id is 94180a331) in PTEG. I don’t see why they wouldn’t work in PLA.

@Rene_Jurack has done this with brass inserts in ABS. This should work with PLA as well.

Link and video in German here:

@Alex_Skoruppa does this a lot. Check out his posts.

Great link @Mark_Rehorst !
My main interest is for securing a PCB inside an enclosure.

Any other ideas for that purpose than inserts ?

Yes, I just saw this yesterday: https://youtu.be/321tptQ8PrU?t=225 Screw a block into your PCB mounting holes and then glue them into the box! So simple and fast!

@Chris_Brent nice idea but don’t think it will hold much in vibration.
