anyone know if there's a tpu/tpe with a suitable temperature/abuse resistance for use in

anyone know if there’s a tpu/tpe with a suitable temperature/abuse resistance for use in a clothes drier?

short story is my youngest has started pre-pre-school (or whatever it’s called in your part of the world), and i 3d printed some name tags in various sizes/configurations for his stuff in some leftover tpu i had (we are required to nametag his stuff). my wife sewed/glued/stitched/attached them to his stuff and it was a great success. she loves them, he loves them, and some parents asked me to print some for their kids (which i did and it was a huge success, already have some people interested in 3d printing).

the problem is there’s some stuff (like his sleeping blanket, etc…) which i’d also like to nametag, but they frequently (like once or twice a week) go through a cycle of washing and drying. the stuff i have survives washing pretty well (no effect seen after several tries), but i’m pretty sure the heat from the drier would kill them (not 100% sure what temp it goes to - but it’s a turbo quick drier with anti-crease and whatnot). i maybe wrong about this, have never really properly researched tpu properties.

has anyone done that (put some tpu through a drier)? or can recommend a brand/type of platic/tpe/tpu that can withstand that kind of abuse?

p.s:
i know i could make a silicone mold, but i’m looking for something more straight-forward and easily customizable for different sizes/names/etc…

Flexismart holds up to high temps. But whats even better is innoflex 45 (which needs to be printed with a reaaal big brim sadly). But try flexismart hat it on the printbed @130°C for about half an hour and it did not show any change or stickyness at all.

thanks, it looks good - so i just tried to order some, but no go :frowning:

their fffworld site says international delivery but they want my spanish i.d number (which i naturally do not have) and i can only choose an address in spain/portugal. i sent them a message asking about international delivery, hope they can do that.

i’ll also ask around tomorrow if there’s a local dealer that imports that stuff.

will let you know how it goes. is that the stuff you used for your g.f’s rollerblade breaks?

@Tom_Keidar
where are you from?

israel (in the middle east)

ok should be rather hard to get it there :frowning:

yeah, some stuff is extra hard to get here :confused:
hopefully they do inernational shipping (i don’t mind paying a few more euros for that, the 250gr spool is not that expensive)…

the problem is they only have it on their european amazon sites. if they had it on http://amazon.com i might be able to ship it here through some proxy service or directly from amazon.

or if anyone knows some other suitable material that ships internationally?

Try filaflex, they do exactly the things you want with his material.

Flexismart its easier to print, but filaflex its a little bit better, it has no delamination at all. Its almost imposible to break the piece apart with your hands. Its really durable.

Im not shure but I think you need to make some holes in the tshirt and add some reinforcement in the interior side of the tshirt

Look for recreus3d

@MakerGal - sorry, i somehow missed this reply…
thanks for the added suggestion.

i couldn’t find much technical information on recreus3d’s site about filaflex. from googling it seems like it’s a tpu?
the tpu that i already have is pretty durable and does not delaminate. do you know what is filaflex’s temperature resistance (i need to know if it would survive a trip in the clothes drier :wink: )? and wear resistance (again a trip through the washing and drying machines)?

@Tom_Keidar I don’t know either, but send them and email, they made loots of things with clothing

@MakerGal thanks, i’ll try that.
