Anyone have good tips for removing 3M blue tape from the bed?
I’d like to replace it by Kapton tape, but not sure how to remove it without damaging the bed…
Thanks

I have always just pulled the blue tape off, mine is on a glass bed so no chance of any damage unless I drop the bed!

Try it with ice cubes

Rubbing alcohol (70% Isopropyl) maybe - I’ve never seen that stuff stick very hard to anything unless I let paint dry over it.

@Pierce_Ferriter , i pulled it off but there are plenty of residue :frowning: see https://www.dropbox.com/sc/yzx50gk0koqdgys/AABrlNPODrChqdkqpvWMuIsna

I’m trying to remove them with alcohol but does not seems very promising…

If isopropyl alcohol isn’t doing it, try goo gone or something similar. Just make sure you clean it with alcohol after the goo gone to remove any remaining residue.

paint thinners removes the glue.

also try nail polish remover, you can get it cheap these days at dollar stores.

@Jeff_Dewe good idea. I have some acetone I use to smooth the prints. I’ll try it!

Huh? Just use the tape itself, the glue will want to stick to the other glue. It’s a slow process but I never have to use any kind of chemical to remove any residue left behind on my glass bed by the blue tape. You’re going for a dabbing action.

@cris_luna that’s the first thing I tried… But no luck :(… Maybe because it is not on glass but in aluminum… Using acetone right now and it is really working well!

In cases of extreme stubbornness I can recommend Goo Gone, stuff is basically made for this.

Heated bed? You might be able to reactivate the glue making it easier to remove.

Isn’t glue removal a WD40 thing?

@Roger_Storvik keep WD40 away from plastic parts on a printer. It will eat them.

eucalyptus oil. soak a tissue in it, let tissue sit on sticky for a bit, scrape off with a paint scraper
