anyone have any good recommendations for gluing led strips like the neopixel weatherproof strands

anyone have any good recommendations for gluing led strips like the neopixel weatherproof strands to metal? Ive tried jb weld, e6000, and high temperature hot glue all with poor results. I’m thinking of trying gorilla or superglue next.

Silicone glue is the only thing I have found that will stick to those silicone sleeves. I like the Devon silicone glue.

Thanks @Erin_St_Blaine ! It’s been challenging to say the least.

Silicone glue does work. But bare in mine it more like a caulking hold vs supper glue. So you can peel the wearherproofing off. I will put which brand I use up when I get hone

I use thin/small wire ties. It allows me to do in-field repairs or replacement without needing to deal with any adhesive. Cut the ties, replace strip, and put ties back on. Done. Of course it is highly dependent on your design.

I seem to be having success with double-sided tape (but note, not tried under playa-heat conditions yet.) I like the idea of the cable-ties though.

Just about anything adhesive will become one nasty, sticky mess in that heat and dust. That’s why I prefer using cable ties in such environments …

Wire ties are also a great idea. I think I’m going to go with gorilla glue and in the event of repairs I’ll resort to cutting open the weatherproof sheath, splice and wire tie a new section. Its probably a good idea to carry my soldering iron with me

3M does a range of stuff that handles silicone. They have a pre-treatment wipe, and a sticky pad… I will dig up the part numbers when I have restored my mac data… oh, and did I mention how much I HATE WINDOWS 7!!!

3M AC78 adhesive primer first, then 3M VHB tape/pads to stick it to anything you like.

The other thing I have used is transparent heatshrink - buy the LEDs on uncovered strips and shrink them to whatever you need them to stick to.

Personally, I would zip-tie them and then cover them in whatever need be. I admit not the prettiest, but if you align all the ties right you should be able to make them as unnoticeable as possible.

Very few glues will adhere to the weatherproof silicone sleeve. Using zip ties for a “mechanical” bond is usually faster and easier. The only two reliable glues we’ve found are Permatex 66B Clear RTV Silicone (not all silicone glues will work!) and Loctite Plastics Bonding System, a 2-part cyanoacrylate glue.
