Alright, I am coming to this awesome community for help once again. Working with my @Printrbot Simple I am having issues with the Y Axis depth.

I believe that I have Repetier Host set up correctly however, anything past 90mm - 92mm of travel from home causes the y axis arm to crash into the back of the print area and bang several times. I was under the impression that even with the build volume upgrade I should have a build volume of 100mm on the Y Axis.

This issue was preset before installing any of the OEM upgrades I have done as well. I just ignored it and worked around it by placing placing parts closer to the front of the bed. But now I want to print some larger stuff and it has become an issue. I have included a picture of the bot in the 'Home" position and one with the Y Axis @ 90mm according to Repetier Host. Also a video of what happens when I manually move the bot 100mm on the Y Axis in Repetier Host.

Once again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check to make sure your y axis is calibrated (e step per mm I mean) print a cube 15mm on edge. Measure to make sure it is 15, my guess is that axis is actually 16-17mm instead. (If this is true then you are moving 100 mm when the controller believes it has moved 92)

If that is the case you can adjust the steps per mm setting in the firmware to compensate

Paging Dr @Brook_Drumm

You e steps are off I suggest printing the step calibration piece off thingiverse and see if all axis are correct. I had this problem when I built mine. And its was a good 2 or 3 mm out on this plane.

I fear your fan shroud is limiting the movement in the back… We may be able to ship a fresh part- maybe I screwed something up. I cut all those parts.

If you take the fan off, is there more y area reachable?

Have you physically measured the distance between Y-home and Y-max? It looks like it’s moving as far as it physically can. If that distance is less than 100mm, then I think @Brook_Drumm is right, and there is a design problem. If this is the case, I know he’ll make it right. Good guy, and good company.

Thanks @Brook_Drumm , I will test this morning after my daughters basketball game and get back to you. Once again, I truly appreciate the great customer service.

@Carlton_Dodd I took some measurements and when when I move he Y axis 90mm in Repetier it measures out to 90mm so there is definitely some obstruction or something impeding travel. I am going to do as @Brook_Drumm suggested and remove the entire fan assembly next to see where it is making contact.

Let us know what you find. It troubled me enough to move the fan assembly forward and incorporate the mount into the y axis plate on future shipments. We would be happy to share our new parts with anyone with the problem
