ABS printing issues

Hello all
I’m new on ABS and I’m facing issues while printing
Pictures will surely show more than just taking about the problem

First image show the whole part with poor adhesion
The second image shows how the top is not completely filled(some empty lines)

What hot end temperature have you set?

What speeds are you using?

Your first layer looks ok as far as I can tell, which makes me assume too fast and/or too cold.

What things have you tried so far, and what changes, if any, have you seen from those attempts?

Above are the printer speeds (on the software)
Regarding the temperature, it’s 260°C for the nozzle and 100°C for the bed

OK, those temperatures look good to me. I don’t know what nozzle you are using, but I run 200mm/s in my Qidi X-Max 3 with a 0.4mm nozzle that is almost volcano length (2mm shorter than the volcano).

It’s not impossible that you have a partially-clogged nozzle. Have you tried clearing it?

I’ve also had results like this when I had a hot end thermistor failing and the nozzle wasn’t actually as hot as the thermistor was reporting. Drove me crazy until it failed completely and told me it was like 600°C when it was at room temperature. I replaced the thermistor and everything was right. (I’m now using ceramic hot ends with integrated thermistors, so I couldn’t just replace them, but I also haven’t yet had one fail in a ceramic hot end…)

If you reduce speed to 50mm/s for a test, does it work better? If the temperature is correct, then that is another sign of a likely clogged nozzle.

I’ll try testing at lower speed and hope to get better results
Thanks indeed @mcdanlj

Now ,and after modifying the print speed
I started struggling with ABS plastic pieces stuck in the stepper motor that drives the filament to the nozzle
Do I have change anything related to retraction in the slicer?

I don’t change retraction.

The stuff stuck in the extruder is further indication of a problem pushing filament through the nozzle.

Either the nozzle is actually too cold, or there is something stuck in it, or you are using a shorter nozzle that just shouldn’t exceed some slower speed, or you don’t have a heater with enough power to keep it hot enough. These are all things that could cause the problems you are seeing.

The filament not being able to be extruded that fast, but the extruder still trying to turn to push it out, is grinding up the filament when it can’t push enough through, and that’s where the junk is coming from.

Ok then
I should try with some tests to configure the problem
Thanks a lot @mcdanlj
