I’m running Ubuntu 13.04 console version on my BBB. I tried installing a light desktop manager on it once and there was a flickering problem at all resolutions.

@Chuck_Wuthrich Thanks Chuck. I was wondering if it was worth trying xfce or some “light window manager”. It appears that it is not.
