A $40k, 1.3m^3 reprap. I have to say, I don't get it.

I have to say, I don’t get it.
Printing anything that size would need geological timeframes.
Also, who has 10k filament reels?
3D printing hype to the max.

I agree. The last thing the world needs is an Objet 1000 sized Replicator 2 (their website has a comparison chart of these 2 printers vs BigRep).

my gawd … $39k. well i did try to make one, i never had the chance to continue … yet (due to some other issues). the idea was to “print” semi rigid parts that exceed 600mmx600mmx600mm in size … i must say i did over do it … and my engr design is flawed hahaha. until i get more energy to re-design it, i think i will have to gawk at the $39k price tag …

this was how far i went last year … some of the wood parts are rather crappy as its mostly made of bits here and there … http://3roomlabs.blogspot.sg/2013/04/041-x-axis-revisited.html

actually this video pretty much sums up why id like to make a large printer … but NOT for $39k … thats a crazy price … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-lhAp11iZY

Is that in pesos?
