280 screws later, I have the torsion box table built for the test rig. Pictures to follow tomorrow if I can find my camera.

What is a torsion box ?

I put a 6’ precision aluminum level across the top at various places and angles. I was not able to get more than a .004" feeler gauge under it at any point. So I think I have built a pretty damn flat table. And the two long sides are perfectly parallel so I can mount the rails directly to the table, reducing flex in the Y axis.

Forgot to mention, the table is 758mm X 1500mm so with the rails attached it will be an 800mm X 1500mm OX build with a 6.5W laser diode for testing LaserWeb. I have also bought a 1.5kw spindle and VFD for testing future versions of LaserWeb when it becomes a full featured CAM package for lasers, routers, 3d printers etc. (We all know +Peter van der Walt will keep improving and adding to it )
